At the next meeting of the government in Kosovo, it was approved that, starting today (October 12), virginity testing will be considered a criminal offense.
The recent changes in the Criminal Code consider the medical test for virginity as unnecessary and if carried out, it will be sanctioned by law because it constitutes a violation of basic human rights.
The Minister of Justice, Albulena Haxhiu, said that this change is in accordance with international human rights standards, which prohibit forced virginity tests.
