After months of speculation, Dua Lipa has finally officially confirmed what fans have suspected for almost half a year: she is engaged.
The singer, in an interview with British Vogue , revealed not only her engagement to British actor Callum Turner, but also details about the ring.
“It's very exciting,” Dua said. “Making a decision to grow up and grow old with someone, to share your life with them, and to just be... each other's best friends, is a really special feeling.”
Dua's engagement ring is a far cry from the traditional versions we're used to seeing on the hands of famous stars. It's not a classic, delicate design or an old family heirloom, it's modern and fits her style perfectly.
The ring consists of a round-cut diamond, set on a thick 18-carat circle.
“It’s my ring finger,” Lipa said in the interview. “It’s nice when the person you’re going to spend your life with knows you so well.”
Turner reportedly collaborated with Dua's sister, Rina, and some of her closest friends to choose the ring.
Dua Lipa's engagement ring may also signal the beginning of a new era in this regard.
More brides are looking for originality and bold style, and her ring meets all of those requirements. If her influence on music and fashion is any indication, then rings with thick circles and minimalist diamonds could be the next trend.
Dua and Callum began dating in 2023, but kept their relationship completely private for almost a year. She told British Vogue that she first met Turner at The River Café in London, where they were introduced by one of the restaurant's co-founders. But the pair met again by chance at a restaurant in Los Angeles a year later, and that's where their love was born.
