In a different interview for the show "S'e Luan Topi", it was Erjona Rusi this time who confessed one of the most difficult moments in her life. She shared with the public the painful experience her family went through, highlighting the injustices and lack of support her father experienced from the healthcare system.
Erjona began her story by mentioning the problems that people with disabilities, including her late father, face in our country's healthcare system:
"I have a bad memory related to my father's illness. Perhaps the most difficult moment as a human being and that has little to do with the policies of this country. People who are paralyzed or have disabilities benefit from camp, it's a kind of ridiculous help. But after a year, in order to benefit from camp, doctors have to prove that the sick person continues to be sick," she said.
She then recounted the difficulties they went through to secure this help, constantly praying for doctors to come to their home to assess the condition of her father, who could not move:
"I begged, I begged, because there is this expression 'like Christ,' to those doctors to come see my dad at home. I had just gotten a small car and I said, 'I'll take you in the car and come and see if we can't move my dad,' because he was in such a state that he couldn't move."
However, the doctors did not respond to her pleas and requested that her father be transported to the hospital, which was not easy for her family:
"But the doctors didn't come. 'You'll bring him here,' they said. And me, my mom and brother, took my dad with a blanket, because he couldn't be held in our arms, there was no other way, and we put him in the car so these doctors could see him, who would then give us the camp."
Erjona also expressed the feelings of pain and humiliation she experienced, seeing her father's grave condition and the lack of help:
"Do you know what a dirty and vile feeling it is for a human being to see your neighbor in that condition? It's unbelievable."
She explained that although she was very young at the time, she would never remain silent about what she experienced:
"If I were very young, if I were the Erjona I am today, in front of those doctors, they would forget, I would never do it. And not just economically, because maybe I am better today, but I would never, ever make a name for myself. There was a time when I was with him [my father] in the hospital and I was ready to put my nails in the throat of a doctor because he took him out of intensive care and took him to the room, because he hadn't received the money. I remember their faces, maybe I have forgotten their names, but I don't want to meet them because I have a great hatred for them."
However, she said that not all doctors are the same, indicating that she has also known extraordinary professionals:
"Not all doctors are like this, I've known some fantastic doctors who I've had guests on the show."
Erjona Rusi revealed that her father began having health problems when she was only 12 years old. When she was pregnant, her father suffered a cerebral hemorrhage and became paralyzed, passing away while she was expecting her child.
