Apparently the quarantine persuaded Johnny Depp to open an Instagram profile - and publish a cover of John Lennon's song "Isolation," from the 1970s.
He first posted a video on Thursday morning showing himself singing surrounded by candles. "Hello everyone ... I'm filming something for you ... give me a minute," the cryptographic description said.
Four hours later, Depp returned with an eight-minute video in which he talked about coronavirus pandemic and announced the release of his version of "Isolation."
In the video, Depp revealed that so far, he had seen no reason to have social media.
"This is the moment to start a dialogue on the threat of the invisible enemy that has caused tragedy and extraordinary damage to people's lives," Depp said. "I think we need to help each other during these difficult, challenging days - for those we love, for our community, for ourselves, for the world and for the future."
Depp urged his followers - now more than 2.2 million - to use time in isolation to develop creativity.
"We must not give up and fall prey to monotony," Depp said. "Create something worthwhile for you and others today and tomorrow. Do something that can fix someone's day. Draw, read, paint, think, learn, make a movie, play an instrument, and if you don't know, learn. ?
After that, the actor talked about his efforts in music, especially the album he recorded for the past years with guitarist jeff beck. Depp concluded that this is the ideal time to publish their version of "Isolation."
"The depth of the poetry seems to me and Jeff hit for the period we are going through. The song talks about the isolation, fear and existential danger that threatens our world. We want to give you this song, ?Depp said. "We hope that in our way, we can help you get through these difficult and unusual days."
