If you have a mole that you don't like, you may have considered removing it yourself at home. The internet is full of advice about various "natural" methods that are supposed to help, but do they really work? And most importantly: Are they safe? The most talked-about methods for removing moles at home
Some of the most commonly circulated methods are:
Apple cider vinegar – Applied to burn the mole.
Garlic – It is left fixed with a band-aid on the mole, in the hope that it will destroy it from the inside.
Iodine – Supposed to kill mole cells.
Cutting with scissors or a razor – An extreme method that some people try.
In addition to these, there are several other remedies such as: baking soda with castor oil, banana peel, tea tree oil, aloe vera, and even hydrogen peroxide.
Mole removal creams are also sold in pharmacies and online stores. To use them, you need to scratch the mole a little before applying the cream. It is said that after a day, a crust will form and when it falls off, the mole will disappear with it.
Why shouldn't you remove moles yourself?
Although these methods may sound practical and economical, dermatologists warn that they are not safe and can have serious consequences.
They can create wounds and infections, especially if you use unsterilized tools to cut off the mole.
Can leave permanent marks. Mole removal creams can cause thick, visible scars.
You can't tell if a mole is dangerous – Moles can be melanoma (an aggressive form of skin cancer). If you remove it without checking, you may not realize it was dangerous and waste valuable time on treatment.
Instead of experimenting with your skin, your best option is to consult a dermatologist. If the mole bothers you for aesthetic reasons, you can cover it up with makeup or trim the hairs that grow on it (this is safe). At the end of the day, your skin is valuable and you should treat it with care.
