During a speech on Capitol Hill in support of the "DEFIANCE Act", Paris Hilton recalled the release of her intimate video years ago.
This bill gives individuals whose image has been used to create pornographic videos and images through Artificial Intelligence the opportunity to take legal action against the creators and distributors of the content.

“When I was 19, a private and intimate video of me was shared around the world without my consent. People called it a scandal. It wasn’t. It was abuse. At the time, there were no laws to protect me. There were no words to describe what had been done to me. The internet had just started to spread, and so had the evil that came with it.”
As he stated, all the attention during that time was on him and the insults he received were endless.
“What they didn’t tell me. They laughed at me and made fun of me. They sold my pain for clicks and then told me to shut up, move on with my life, and even be grateful for the attention I received. They didn’t see me as a young woman who had been taken advantage of. They didn’t see the panic I felt, the shame or the humiliation. No one asked me what I lost. I lost control of my body, of my reputation. They stole the self-esteem I had.”
This is not the first time she has spoken out about the erotic video that was shared years ago.
A few weeks after Paris Hilton began experiencing fame thanks to the reality show "The Simple Life," an intimate video of her with her then-boyfriend, Rick Salomon, was released.
In 2003, Hilton was just 19 years old when she suddenly found herself in the public spotlight.
