Bad Bunny has responded to online backlash after footage of him throwing a fan's phone went viral over the holidays.
The reggaeton singer did not apologize for the confrontation, which he called "disrespectful" on the part of the fan and explained his reaction.
The video, which was filmed in the Dominican Republic, shows a crowd of fans surrounding the singer as one of the girls in attendance walks up to him with the camera close to his face.
Bad Bunny is then seen picking up the phone and slamming it to the ground as someone yells "wow, really?" and another says "you have to respect his space".

Regarding the whole incident, the 28-year-old explained:
"Anyone who comes to me to say hello, to say something to me, or just to meet me, will always have my attention and respect. But those who come to put a damn phone in my face, I will always take that for what it is: disrespect and treat it as such.
People on the Internet are divided into two groups. There are those who think it was the right thing to do and others who think the action was a little aggressive.
Someone wrote:
"I adore Bad Bunny but this was unnecessary and anyone who justifies his actions is a weirdo. He should have just asked him to back off, he didn't have to grab his phone and throw it at him in that rude way."
Ironically, the singer's non-profit foundation - the Good Bunny Foundation - organized an event in Puerto Rico in December, where Bad Bunny gave gifts to children and took photos with fans.
Here's a meme, "Bad Bunny after throwing the phone at a fan":
