In a surprise move, a day before closing arguments in Diddy's New York trial, prosecutors have withdrawn some of the key evidence during the trial; specifically, charges of kidnapping, attempted arson, and aiding or abetting sex trafficking.
In reality, it seems prosecutors feel they have failed to prove that Diddy kidnapped former employee Capricorn Clark (who was allegedly taken to a warehouse and subjected to a lie detector test to determine if she had stolen Diddy's jewelry), and also Cassie (who was allegedly held against her will in a London hotel).

More surprisingly, prosecutors will no longer pursue the claim that Diddy burned down Kid Cudi's car out of jealousy. During the trial, prosecutors failed to directly link Diddy to the fire.
Both of these charges are related to the larger organized crime charge. However, not all of the sex trafficking charges have been dropped, only parts of them, specifically aiding and abetting trafficking.

In the letter, prosecutors also ask that the jury be told that the fact that the women (Cassie and another identified as Jane) had previously given consent to sexual acts does not mean that consent cannot be withdrawn later.
Also, prosecutors emphasize that the payment received by a woman (Jane) does not exclude the possibility that she was forced to work (related to sex trafficking).
Ultimately, prosecutors want the jury to understand that it is not necessary for there to have been physical coercion or paid sexual acts to prove there was coercion in sex trafficking.
