The sex trafficking trial of Sean "Diddy" Combs has entered a shocking phase, as the jury was confronted for the first time with videos of so-called "freak-offs" - extended orgies with drugs and escorts, which according to prosecutors were carefully organized and managed by the artist's staff.
For more than six weeks, the jury has listened to audio, seen photos and testimony from his former partner, Cassie Ventura, but on Monday, for the first time, they saw footage that describes in detail what happened behind closed doors.
Only the jury and the court saw the videos, under strict conditions of privacy. The footage was from October 2012, when Cassie, according to the messages, had communicated with two male escorts to meet at a luxury hotel in New York - where reservations were made under false names such as "Frank Black" and "Janet Clark."
In addition to the footage, the jury also heard shocking messages, where Diddy's former chief of staff, Kristina Khorram, wrote:
"Watch out, he might have a 'wild king night' tonight" – an insider term that translated to "freak-off".
In another message from 2023, a girl identified as "Jane Doe" writes to Khorram:
“I'm going to say it bluntly: I'm not having crazy parties anymore… no more nights in hotels.”
Diddy, charged with five federal offenses, including sex trafficking and exploitation of prostitution, has pleaded not guilty. However, Monday's evidence puts him in a difficult position.
The prosecution is expected to call Brendan Paul, Diddy's former assistant and alleged drug dealer, to testify today. In one of the messages, Khorram asks Diddy's girlfriend to get "Guido's package" - a nickname for a drug dealer identified by witnesses.
At the end of the hearing, a juror was dismissed for “lack of candor toward the court,” adding further tension to a trial that is unraveling a dark world of music, power, and abuse.
The trial continues, and with each passing day, the shadows over Diddy's figure become thicker and thicker.
