Apparently, Gigi was completely taken aback by Zayn's recent comments on the "Call Her Daddy" podcast. During the interview, the singer stated that he doesn't think their relationship was love, despite the fact that they were together for six years.

Zayn said:
"I don't think it was love and, to be fair, I want to say it for the public: I will always love G [Gigi], because she is the reason my child is in this world and I have the utmost respect for her. I will always love her, but I don't know if I was ever in love with her."

According to a source for The Sun (also reported by the Daily Mail), Gigi's reaction was strong:
"There's nothing respectful about talking bad about the mother of your child. Gigi was completely taken aback. It's all so unnecessary and pathetic. It seems like a low-key attempt to get attention before the release of his new album."

The source added:
"How can he say he was never in love with her? They were together for six years. To even imply that their daughter was not the fruit of a loving relationship is cruel beyond words. Gigi has always refrained from any bad words towards him, so this makes the situation even more humiliating."

Recently, Gigi spoke about co-parenting with Zayn in an interview with Vogue, saying:
"Zayn and I plan our parenting schedules months in advance. That's not to say things don't change sometimes, but we help each other out and stick by each other."
She added that there is still “love and a sense of solidarity” between them.
