An Albanian student has achieved significant success in an international arena of knowledge. Loris Qose, a ninth-grade student at the “7 Marsi” school in Cërrik, was awarded a gold medal in Mathematics and a bronze medal in Chemistry at the “Neo Science” World Olympiad, held in Orlando, USA. His talent and preparation stood out among hundreds of his peers from different countries around the world.
For Loris, this result represents the culmination of a long and continuous work. He describes participating in this Olympiad as a unique experience, not only for the academic evaluation, but also for the emotion of representing Albania on an international stage.
“Raising the Albanian flag on that stage in America is one of the greatest prides and honors that a student should experience once in their lifetime. The emotions I felt that day were very beautiful, when I stood up and unfurled the flag,” he told Euronews Albania. “My talent in mathematics was discovered by my teacher in 6th grade, who motivated me a lot and gave me lessons above my grade level.”
Teacher Flutura Hoxholli, who has worked with Loris for four consecutive years, emphasizes that the achievement is the result of structured work, with clear objectives and continuous dedication, underlining the importance of early support for talents in school.
According to Hoxholli, the role of the teacher is crucial in identifying and developing talents. She emphasizes that without the teacher's attention and continuous work, the potential of students remains untapped. At the same time, she underlines the need for more institutional support, emphasizing that schools with talented students need additional working hours and more suitable conditions, as currently this support is lacking and the work often takes place outside the official framework of the education system.
