A glass of orange juice gives your immune system the vitamin C it needs daily, but is it that good for you? Yes and no. 

It all depends on the type and amount you drink, according to nutritionists. Pure orange juice with no added sugars or dilution is often the healthiest choice (although it may be more expensive). It offers a variety of vitamins and minerals. 100% orange juice has vitamin C, potassium, folate, etc. 

But even 100% orange juice contains high amounts of sugar; and regular consumption of orange juice has been linked to weight gain and an increased risk for type 2 diabetes.

Approximately, a large glass of orange juice with pulp, among others, has 22 grams of sugar, 26 grams of carbohydrates, 110 calories and 1.99 grams of protein.

Benefits of orange juice

Orange juice, when consumed in the right amounts can contribute to good health, but we can not say that it is a key health product. There are several benefits like the fact that it is a great source of vitamin C, it can help fight kidney stones and for some, it is simply a fresh and delicious drink.

That said, orange juice does you no harm, but if you overdo it, you need to be careful about the calories and sugar it gives you!
