After the first cases of Covid-19 were reported in Albania, municipalities took measures to disinfect public transport buses. Given the fact that a large number of people use public transport, one of the most common questions on the internet is related to coronavirus infection by gloves or bus bars.
At this time, the way the coronavirus is spreading is still unclear, but similar viruses are transmitted through coughs and throats from an infected person, or by touching surfaces where the infected person has difficulty or is coughing.
If you are traveling by bus / train and it is relatively empty, the chances of getting infected are less. Of course, it also affects how well the vehicles are ventilated and how well they are disinfected. So the risk depends on how many people are present rather than the touch of gloves or rods on the bus.
The Institute of Public Health says it is considered almost impossible to get infected if you touch the bars or gloves of the bus. However, it is advisable to disinfect and wash your hands when touching objects where the surfaces are potentially contaminated.
Among other things, it is advisable to avoid peak hours as well as walking for short routes.
