When it comes to choosing foods that keep us full, there are some classic nutrients that are associated with increased satiety. "Protein, fiber, and healthy fats are nutrients that promote satiety because they are better digested," says nutritionist Alyssa Smolen.
But foods that are eaten in small amounts or have low amounts of fiber make you feel hungrier, even though you may have eaten a few minutes ago.

Cakes and cookies are often preferred by people. But a 2013 study shows that low-glycemic index foods, like these classic desserts, actually stimulate and worsen hunger.
