Bella Hadid thinks women shouldn't work during their menstrual cycle

You know that feeling when you're on your period, you have terrible stomach pains, your back hurts and you just don't have the energy to get out of bed, but you have to, because you have work? Bella Hadid knows this feeling well and thinks it's time for this torture to end. According to her, it should be illegal for women to be forced to work during their menstrual cycle.

In a recent interview with British Vogue, the supermodel shared her idea for medical leave during her menstrual cycle. Speaking about how modeling has influenced her relationship with her body since the age of 18, Bella said:

"I had just moved out of my parents' house and entered a world where you have to look at yourself in the mirror every day. And then, you have your period. Doing a Victoria's Secret photoshoot while you're on your period, suffering from endometriosis. That should be illegal."

And it didn't stop there. Bella added ironically:

"I'm going to talk to the White House about this - it should be legally prohibited for women to work during the week of their period. Even the week before."

Bella, who has spoken openly about her health issues such as endometriosis, ADHD, depression, anxiety, PMDD, PCOS, and Lyme disease, is an individual who deals with chronic pain.

“I don’t think anyone really understands what it’s like to live with a chronic illness,” she told British Vogue. “There are days when it’s hard to even take a shower.” And she adds that on the rare days off, “If I can take a shower and make breakfast, I consider it a success.”

To cope with the constant pressure of working every day, Bella has created an alter ego called Belinda.

"Belinda just does her job. She might be crying from 5 to 7 in the morning, but once she gets to work, she smiles and gets through the day. That's Belinda to me," she explains.
