With the arrival of May, the Met Gala returns, now considered the world's premier fashion event. On the first Monday of the month, the stage of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York is decorated in anticipation of the names of famous personalities, marking the official beginning of an evening full of glitz, creativity and ornate and expensive outfits.
In October, the Metropolitan Museum of Art announced its spring exhibition, "Superfine: Tailoring Black Style." Inspired by Monica L. Miller's 2009 book, "Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity," the exhibition is organized into 12 sections, each representing a defining characteristic of dandy style.
