Journalist and moderator, Eni Vasili, has been elected General Director of Albanian Radio Television. Her appointment was made by the RTSH Steering Council, where Vasili was voted in by 7 of its members.
Three votes went to Zoje Jakaj (Marashi) and 1 vote to candidate Engjëllush Musai. All three candidates managed to advance to the second session, after the statutory voting conditions were not met the day before, RTSH reports.
"The second vote for the General Director of Albanian Radio Television turns out to be successful, as it manages to fulfill the statutory need of Albanian Public Radio Television for the election of the General Director by 3/5 of the members of the Board of Directors. Candidate Eni Vasili is elected General Director of Albanian Public Radio Television with 7 votes. Success, Mrs. Vasili!" said the chairman of the Board of Directors, Fatjon Hoxhalli.
Based on the RTSH statute, journalist Eni Vasili is expected to serve for the next 5 years.
This move comes at a difficult time for Radio Television Albania, which has faced a series of accusations and criticisms from its former employees.
