Let's admit that for many of us, life is a daily race between waking up quickly, commitment to work, children, family, etc. Without realizing it we take a lot of time from ourselves and our lives, while doing things calmly should be a matter of priority.

Recently, a trend called "slow morning" has spread on social networks and invites people to spend the morning calmly and where the momentum of the first hours of the day is replaced by moments of self-care.

"Slow mornings include practices that our bodies crave, but we don't always find the time for," explains Olivia Verhulst, health advisor for Women's Health.

What this kind of trend?

"It's all about awareness," says psychologist Shani A. Gardner. The most common practices on social media range from meditation to exercise, personal care, writing, cooking, and more. "Slow mornings focus on what's happening at this exact moment in the day and the things that make us feel good," Gardner continues. Instead of waking up and immediately thinking about what lies ahead, checking work emails or scrolling through Instagram, slow mornings encourage us to focus on the present and figure out how we want our day to go.

Benefits of "slow breakfast":

Unlike a hectic routine, slow mornings can help you manage your emotions better. "If we don't think with purpose, awareness and calmness, we risk engaging in an automatic mode of operation, which guides us through the day unconsciously," adds the psychologist.
