The longest study ever conducted on human happiness has revealed some surprising data about its close connection to health and fulfillment in longevity.
According to Dr. Robert Waldinger, who is the leader of the study and a psychologist by profession, the key to health and happiness is relationships.
The study summarized the explanation for this issue by emphasizing that close social relationships are crucial for well-being at any age.
"With good human relations, each of us lives happily and healthily", say the researchers. The analyzed data revealed that people with good social relations are predisposed not to get sick with diabetes, arthritis or other chronic diseases.
The main hypothesis of the study arose on the regulation of stress levels by close relationships, which help the body to calm down and restore balance.
More than 40% of adults say they feel lonely often or always. Participants who had developed occasional relationships were rewarded with better lifetime moments. But each of them emphasizes that relationships are not built out of nothing. They are based on continuous work, tolerance, respect and understanding.
The same applies to marriage, which according to Waldinger, with all its ups and downs, contributes significantly to longevity.
