Katy Perry apparently hinted at Russell Brand's secrets years before allegations of emotional abuse, sexual assault and rape were made.

In a 2013 interview with Vogue, which has resurfaced amid ongoing allegations against Brand, the "Firework" singer opened up about her "controlling" ex-husband and their "really hurtful" marriage.

Katy told Vogue she was truly "in love" with Russell Brand when she married him in 2010. However, they divorced just 14 months later after she received a break-up text from him on New Year's Eve, 2011.

She admitted she initially blamed herself for the split - until she "discovered the real truth" about the comedian.

"At first, when I met him, he wanted an equal partner, and I think a lot of times strong men want an equal woman, but then they say, 'I can't handle equality.' He didn't like the atmosphere when I was the boss too. So [the relationship] was really hurtful and very controlling, which was disturbing," Perry said at the time.

“I felt a lot of responsibility for ending the relationship, but then I discovered the real truth, which I can't necessarily reveal because I'll save it for when the moment comes. I let him go and said, 'This is not happening because of me; this is beyond me.'”

Perry has yet to reveal what "truth" she was talking about in that interview, but many are now speculating that she was referring to Brand's dark past.
