Silvio Berlusconi's villa could be turned into a museum

The mansion near Milan that belonged to the late Silvio Berlusconi could be turned into a museum dedicated to the three-time Italian prime minister.

Berlusconi, who died in June aged 86, bought Villa San Martino, his main residence, in the early 1970s. It was where the billionaire hosted intimate business and political meetings, as well as some of his infamous sex parties.

A source within the politician's Forza Italia party confirmed rumors that Villa San Martino could be turned into a museum, adding that at this stage it was "an idea" being discussed among Berlusconi's relatives.

But what can visitors see?

The mansion has 70 rooms of artworks, including those by Rembrandt and Titian, as well as hundreds of portraits – many of which are his own.

The villa also contains - said to be in a bathroom - the "contract with the Italians" document he signed on national television in which he promised to cut taxes, create jobs and build infrastructure before the 2001 general election.
