A video of a plane in the air has gone viral because people are convinced it's "a glitch in the Matrix".
Although it looks like the plane is hovering, the seemingly unusual sight can easily be explained by science.
In the video posted on TikTok, people comment on how this is "crazy", "scary" etc.
Someone writes:
"The people in these comments have obviously never done physics in their lives."
In fact, the skeptics are right, as the seemingly alarming phenomenon is nothing to worry about.
The plane is not stuck in place. What is more likely to have happened is that it has been caught in very strong headwinds, and the wind blowing against a moving object causes it to move much more slowly.
The plane may also be slowing down because it is trying to land.
To people on the ground who see the plane for a few seconds and are traveling in the opposite direction, it may appear as if the plane has stopped moving altogether.
If we add to all this the perspective of moving the camera, it can seem as if the plane is stationary in the air.
Not as fun as explaining a "bug in the Matrix" is it?
