In an interview with Bustle, actress Salma Hayek talked about her beauty rituals, use of treatments, and her stance on non-invasive cosmetic procedures.

In this interview, Hayek, 58, also discusses her dedication to traditional skin care methods, like those she learned from her grandmother, and her philosophy of preserving natural facial expressions.

The actress began by revealing that she was using a modern, non-surgical method that uses ultrasound to lift and improve the skin. Salma Hayek enthusiastically stated:

"They told me the results would be visible in 2-3 months, but I saw them in two weeks. I was at dinner with Victoria Beckham and she said, 'You did something.' She saw the difference right away. Look at my neck!" Hayek said, running her hand under her chin and over her cleavage.

Despite her newfound dedication to treatments, she still believes in the traditional beauty rituals her grandmother taught her.

What is Salma Hayek's first memory of skincare?

"My grandmother made her own creams and was obsessed with beauty experiments. I was probably 12 or 13 when she made me a special scrub with sugar, lavender oil and other things. She would massage me lovingly – it was a bonding moment between us and taught me the importance of self-care."

How has her approach to beauty changed over time?

"Not much has changed. I've always been very conservative with procedures. I have a philosophy that prioritizes longevity. I want my husband, when he sees me at 70, to still see my face – that's important to me. As an actress and a mother, it's essential that my facial expressions are present – ??they're part of my identity. I'm 58 and I've always used treatments that are related to energy, because they stimulate what I already have. But I felt like I was blocked, especially in my neck – and that's where I discovered Ultherapy."

What kind of energy treatments do you usually use?

"Ultrasound. But also other similar methods. That was the only thing I did. Sometimes specialists came to my house, sometimes I went to clinics. But I like Ultherapy because it's only done once a year."

What does she think about injections like botox or fillers?

"I've never had Botox or fillers. I've never had any plastic surgery. [He points behind his ears to show no sign of skin tightening.] I've never done anything. And that's how my relationship with ultrasound therapy began. It's exciting when you see a small change. It boosts your confidence and makes you feel good."

What is the strangest trick you have ever tried?

"Oh, honey, we have a lot of weird stuff in Mexico. [Laughs.] There's this really crazy stuff that comes from snails – I've tried it. They've been using it in Mexico for a long time. It's a little gross. I like something that smells good and feels good."

What is the best beauty advice you have ever received?

"My grandmother taught me not to wash my face in the morning. She said, 'Your skin works all night while you sleep – it's just a marketing ploy to sell you products.'"

Salma Hayek has spoken openly about her gray hair before. What is her relationship with it?

"Actually, I'm just lazy. That's why the therapy I'm doing works for me - it's once a year. I don't want to go to the hairdresser every three weeks. I would probably look better, but it's not about looks for me - it's about longevity. When I dye it, my hair gets frizzy. I have very fine and very thick hair, so I prefer beautiful white hair to ugly black hair."

What other things do you do for longevity?

"Meditation. Almost every day. I love it."

How long do you meditate?

"I've discovered my own style, so it's not boring. I can meditate until they come to take me out of the room. I can go on for three hours. I feel the energy and 'walk' for hours."

What physical exercises do you do?

"My body sometimes moves during meditation, so I also call this exercise. I also like to dance. My daughter loves dancing too, so we dance a lot at home. Today I stopped putting on makeup to dance a little because a good song was playing."

What music do you like to dance to?

Right now? Bad Bunny. He's incredible.
