Cristiano Ronaldo thought he scored the goal that would put him alongside Portugal's Eusebio as Portugal's World Cup goalscorer. Everyone thought it was Ronaldo who scored the goal against Uruguay, but it didn't turn out that way.
His teammates approached him to praise him for the goal after Bruno Fernandes' pass. The goal was awarded to Ronaldo, but in a later announcement, it was clarified that the scorer was Fernandes.

After the match, Fernandes admitted that he thought Ronaldo had touched the ball. "I thought Ronaldo touched the ball. I was passing the ball to him," he told reporters. "What matters is the fact that we got through to the next round after beating a tough opponent."
"Before the game, my kids told me I was going to score two goals," Fernandes - who scored the second with a penalty later - told FIFA.
On social media, some people have joked that Ronaldo thought he scored a goal, while others point out that in those moments of speed, everyone would have thought he touched the ball. Also, many point out that Ronaldo's presence near the goal confused the goalkeeper, which means that he made a big contribution to the goal.
