The eating disorders you will be introduced to below cause quite a few physical and mental problems. The way we eat is directly related to our lifestyle, so you need to find out if you suffer (or not) from any of the disorders below.
Orthorexia nervosa
It's good to try to eat healthy, but it turns into a problem the moment you let diet control your mind. Unlike anorexia or bulimia which is related to the amount of food you eat, orthorexia focuses on the quality of the food. People affected by this disorder, are obsessed with controlling every detail of food and do not consume any food that may have dyes or other modified ingredients.
Athletic anorexia
Usually this type of disorder appears more in athletes who want to have a fit and strong body. They attach great importance to the calories they consume and deprive themselves of any food that has a greater amount of calories than what they require. This leads to a lack of productivity and can hinder them in their work.
Diabulimia
This is a type of disorder that is associated with diabetes and usually people suffering from type 1 diabetes are more prone to it. These people avoid injecting insulin and this causes them to lose weight directly and causes you even more problems with diabetes.
Pica
This disorder is not about pizza, but about the tendency to eat dirty things or non-food items. People who have this disorder, seek to eat paper, paint or powder. Although it may seem strange, in fact this disorder is extremely prevalent and dangerous because people affected by it, may try to eat poisonous or indigestible materials.
Nocturnal hunger syndrome
Although it may seem normal to wake up in the middle of the night and feel the need to eat something, in fact it is not. This is a disorder which is also related to depression and is a way to heal oneself through food. This syndrome is the first sign that you are depressed.
