Robert Maraj, the 64-year-old father of rapper Nicki Minaj, lost his life on Saturday, February 12, in an accident.
Maraj was walking along a road in Long Island on Friday when he was hit by a car, which then went on to walk, according to police, and there is no helpful description from witnesses.
The incident happened in the afternoon and immediately after the accident, the 64-year-old was taken to hospital and pronounced dead a day later.
The rapper, whose real name is Onika Tanya Maraj, has not yet publicly addressed the death of her father.
The singer has previously described her father as violent towards her mother and in an interview with Rolling Stone in 2010 said that he once "set fire to their house with her mother inside".
"I remember when my mom let my dad be violent with her and she always remembers the story when I was little and I stretched my arms out in front of her for protection. That's why a lot of people describe me as harsh or savage because "I swore from that age that no man would ever abuse me, never treat me like that. Then suddenly, she was my life," the rapper said in the 2018 documentary, "Queen".
