Stephanie Gailing, health consultant, says the 3-6-5 method is ideal for "calming the body throughout the day".
"3-6-5" is a breathing method that is practiced 3 times a day, with 6 full breaths for 5 minutes.
How to do it to get the best out of it:
# 1 - Find a comfortable position
It is important to be relaxed. Sit in a comfortable chair or lie down. Many people say they practice it better if they are lying down.
# 2 - Keep a method to "track" your breathing
You can use an app or count the seconds, if that helps you focus. Most people set the timer to 5 minutes.
# 3 - Inhale slowly and deeply into your diaphragm for 5 seconds and then exhale for another 5 seconds
Thus, you will manage to do 6 full breaths per minute. Do the same for 5 minutes.
# 4 - Repeat two more times throughout the day
Remember that breathing practices have a number of benefits. They help you rebalance the nervous system, making you more resilient to stress.
