The vaccine may arrive in Albania in January

The Covid-19 vaccine is in the spotlight of national and international health institutions. In an interview with Report Tv, the head of epidemiology at the Institute of Public Health, Eugena Tomini, said that "she hopes that in the first weeks of January we will be among the first countries to apply the vaccine."

"Despite the protection, the vaccine will be life-saving. Pharmaceutical companies are in competition over who is producing the vaccine first. The vaccine is not in the coronavirus prevention parts, but it will protect us at high levels." She said.

Tomini added:

"Albania, like other countries, which is a member of the Covax network [and] has its share in the first programmed window. Developing countries are a priority over developed countries. Albania is part of this network and we hope to bring the vaccine as soon as possible. We hope to be among the first countries to apply the vaccine in the first weeks of January. "Since other countries have scheduled the vaccine before Christmas, we hope for the first few weeks of January."

Covax is a program run by the World Health Organization for the distribution of vaccines. In a communication to the media on November 24, Prime Minister Rama spoke, among other things, about the vaccine that our country will receive, focusing on its price.

"Cheap or expensive, this is another topic. We have left nothing to the people when it comes to things related to the most important elements of life. We will not leave this obligation deficient, regardless of the price. It does not mean that we will only get one type. We can take from all kinds if we will have the opportunity, as others are doing. "No country, as far as I can see, is focusing on just one."
