When she was 6, Alvin Berisha arrived in Syria with his mother, Valbona, who wanted to join the Caliphate fighters. After a bombing, Valbona lost her life and Alvin was injured. The boy spent five years at the war camp and, thanks to the extraordinary efforts of journalists, the state and non-profit organizations, joined his father in Italy.

Alvin arrived home, in Barzago, Lecco in early November 2018. These are the photos we have of that period.
