
For years, Albania has had a significant decline in fertility and this phenomenon is continuing to deepen. Anyhow, even more problematic is the fact that a good part of Albanian men do not want to have children.
In an article published in the Monitor, it was stated that after a survey conducted at the Public Health Institute, about 15-49-year-old men without children, 42% of them do not want to! As for women, only 4% of the same age group do not want to be mothers.
This high percentage makes the situation even more alarming. Last decades, it has been noted that Albanian men and women are inclined towards small families.
Only 9% of currently married women and 14% of men up to 49 years old have expressed wanting to have a baby or another soon.
The causes of this phenomenon are many, but what can be mentioned as the main are income and careers. Lifestyle has changed, life has become much faster and more expensive and as a result the arrival of a child needs to be planned more carefully than before
