As announced the coastal city of Wilmington in North Carolina was hit by the fiery hurricane, Florence of the fourth category out of a total of five.
At least 150 people have been trapped in New Bern, North Carolina, due to rising water levels at a time when the hurricane epicenter of Florence has already touched the eastern coast of the United States. The amount of water coming from high waves continues to grow, as "Florence" passes through the area where up to 200 people have been rescued so far.
The National Hurricane Center announced that the Neuse River near the city has registered more than 3 meters in height, causing flooding in the surrounding areas. Local officials had warned people to climb the top floors of the apartment buildings, even though they provided them with help in any case.
Hurricane Florence was located about 45 miles east of Wilmington at 4am, with the local one, while the speed of its displacement was only 9km per hour. Its powerful winds have expanded its action range to at least 150 km from the epicenter, while their speed reaches 315 km.
Life threatening bat are reported along the coasts of both Karolina, as the hurricane "Florence" occupied the seafront and tens of thousands of homes had electricity.
Heavy winds knocked trees on the ground, while whole areas remained in the water as a result of dense rainfall but also of water coming from the sea.
The storm intensity dropped as it approached the earth, with wind speeds of around 144 km per hour at midnight, but meteorologists say catastrophic floods are still expected.
