Cassie is eight months and two weeks pregnant and is testifying in the ongoing rape, prostitution and extortion trial of Sean Diddy Combs. However, there are allegations from prosecutors that Diddy's defense team is actually deliberately dragging out the singer's testimony, in the hope that she will give birth and this could cause the trial to be declared a "mistrial", given that she is one of the key witnesses.
Prosecutors are pushing for Cassie's full testimony to be expedited and want it to be completed within this week.
Cassie has testified so far for 4 consecutive days, in extended hours, which according to prosecutors, has given the defense "many hours" more than the time the singer testified for the prosecution.
In a letter to Judge Arun Subramanian, prosecutors said the cross-examination process had been delayed. They argue that the cross-examination should not be extended any further because if Cassie gives birth and returns to court, Diddy's lawyers will have more time to prepare and the questions could steer the hearing in other directions.
Cassie has given shocking testimony of a long-term abuse while she was in a relationship with P.Diddy for 11 years. She has revealed that she was part of "freak-offs", crazy parties that included sex and the consumption of various narcotic substances, starting from marijuana, cocaine, ketamine and ending with GHB, which is also known as a date rape drug.
