The actress, known for her roles in the series "Lost" and the films "The Hobbit", published a video with followers on Instagram that she called "bad news".
She has posted several updates since the traumatic brain injury (TBI) she suffered in May, when she lost consciousness on the beach and hit her head on a rock.
Lilly revealed that a recent brain scan revealed that almost every area of ??her brain is functioning at reduced capacity.
“So, yes, I have brain damage from this traumatic injury and probably other factors as well,” she said.
"Now my job is to figure out exactly what's going on with the doctors and then start the hard work to improve the situation, which I'm not looking forward to, because I feel like I've been doing nothing but hard work my whole life."
However, the actress says that as a result of this injury she took her time to rest during the remainder of last year.
"But that's okay. The decline in my cognitive abilities that occurred after I hit my face has helped me slow down and end 2025 in a more relaxed manner."

According to Lilly, it was comforting to know that cognitive decline is not just related to perimenopause, but the uphill battle that awaits her to treat these impairments remains worrying.
Explanation: Perimenopause is the transitional period that precedes menopause in women. During this time, levels of reproductive hormones, especially estrogen and progesterone, begin to decline, which can cause changes in the menstrual cycle and various physical and emotional symptoms.
At the time of the accident, Lilly posted photos of her bloodied face after the injury. After describing what she went through, she tried to look on the bright side (as much as she could) of the whole situation.
"It may seem crazy looking at my face and my broken tooth, but I feel so grateful that I passed out. I had to shift my focus elsewhere for the rest of this year."
