A serious crime was recorded on Friday morning, in Volos, Greece, in an Albanian family. Pandeli Nakoleci killed the woman with whom he had four children, Marjola.
How did the incident happen?
The incident was recorded at the couple's home, where their minor children were also present. According to the investigation, the victim was stabbed in the neck and chest.
On the other hand, it was the minor girl who called the ambulance and saw the entire crime scene. She testified, saying that her father first stabbed the victim. Then he followed her up the stairs of the building, pushed her towards the glass door, causing fatal injuries from broken glass shards. After the murder, the perpetrator immediately fled. However, the authorities managed to arrest him. He was found hiding in a grassy area, about 200 meters from the house, in an old parking lot.
Testimonies of relatives
The victim's daughter said that her parents often had problems and arguments, but she did not know what was the cause of the latest conflict that led to the tragedy.
"I don't know why they got together today... My father was very jealous of my mother," she testified.
Meanwhile, the victim's sister told Greek media that she was aware of the physical, psychological, and even sexual abuse that the perpetrator was inflicting on the deceased.
"When he had children, he changed. He became abusive, he beat her," the victim's sister said. "She would go and have abortions often," she added, noting that the 40-year-old constantly threatened her that "if she divorced him, he would do worse."
According to her, he raped her so that the victim would get pregnant. She also highlighted that there were numerous scenes of violence in front of the children.
"For many years we didn't speak and it's our fault. Because I was telling my sister to get a divorce, but she was afraid. I did everything I could to help her, with money, but she couldn't afford it," she said. "He would tell the children 'stay away, shut up' and beat him in front of them," the 36-year-old's sister added.
The perpetrator, according to witnesses, showed no signs of remorse, saying: "I killed her because she was betraying me. I did her the right thing. She deserved this. I don't regret anything."
However, according to Greek media, in court he met with his 18-year-old daughter, to whom he told: "My eyes went dark, I didn't want to do it."
But, this attitude changed again, after in the confrontation with his daughter at the police station, he again justified the crime, claiming that the deceased had betrayed him: "Did you know that your mother was cheating on me?"
On the other hand, the perpetrator's lawyer emphasized that the latter has repented.
"He is undoubtedly remorseful... remorseful and devastated, because he killed with his own hands a woman he loved and with whom he created a family, with whom he brought four children into this world," the lawyer said, as reported by Greek media outlet taxydromos.gr.
The incident is still under investigation, while Nakolec is charged with the criminal offense of "intentional murder."
