Bright green is having a moment of its own, and you can thank Charli XCX's new album, "Brat." Since the album's release on June 7, the "brat" trend (including the signature Arial font) seems to be everywhere and has even reached marketing campaigns.
The pop album focuses on partying, Von Dutch, femininity and has inspired TikTok dances, memes and fashion trends, leading the most regular fans online to coin a new term: "vera brat."
With a messy and uncomplicated look, "brat summer" incorporates elements from other similar trends on TikTok such as the "feral" girl summer. Evolving from the iconic album cover to an entire aesthetic, "brat" is now a lifestyle embraced by Generation Z.
Here's everything you need to know about "brat" summer, from viral hits to unexpected collaborations.
What is "brat" wine?
The summer trend "brat" is inspired by British singer Charli XCX's hit album "brat," which was released on June 7 and debuted at number three on Billboard.
Fans were particularly captivated by the album's distinctive but minimalist cover art: the word "brat" written in a low-resolution font on a green background.
Soon after the album's release, Gen Z declared this the season of "brats," an aesthetic trend defined by party animal behavior, cool girl style that celebrates, doesn't kill too much, and of course, the color green.
The trend quickly took off on TikTok, with 41.2K posts under the hashtag #bratsummer. Brat wine is about accepting your imperfections, embracing the fact that we are all different and may have our flaws.
Charli further explained the meaning of "brat" in a TikTok video.

"You're like that girl who's a bit messy and likes to party and maybe says something crazy sometimes. That feels good, but maybe also passes a crisis. But more or less, it celebrates through it, it's very honest, very direct. A bit unstable. But it's brat. You are a brother. This is brat,” she said in the video.
One of the most viral brat trends on TikTok is a high-energy dance routine to the song "Apple" from the album. TikTok creator Kelley Heyer, an avid Charli XCX fan, created a dance routine for Apple that quickly went viral among the singer's fans.
