Vedat Ademi was emotional during the interview with Dalina Buzi on "The Dalina Show" in Andale, as he spoke for the first time and with pain about the traumas he experienced during the war in Kosovo. His return this year to the Song Festival with the song "Kur fjala mbaron" is connected precisely to this personal wound, a text that touches on topics such as war, loss and survival.
Speaking about the song's message, he explained:
"When the word ends it means that we were nameless, we were just numbers to the enemy. The theme is strong, while we speak, the world continues to be a mess. As a child of war, I found myself in this song. It naturally touches me, I speak with emotion now."
Vedati recounted for the first time serious episodes from 1999, which have left an indelible mark on him.
"I was there myself in '99. Together with my brother, we were in the mountains for a period of time, from one mountain to another. We saw things that remain in our memory. I was 16-17 years old and we often saw death with our own eyes."
He also recalled a dangerous journey to see if his parents were alive:
"One time, we were coming from the Drenica area to see our parents, how they were, were they alive, what had happened. We secretly passed under a bridge, there were two KLA soldiers with us. In that neighborhood of ours, all the men were taken, they were tortured. We were among the only ones who survived."
The singer added that he was sharing many of the experiences for the first time:
"I have never spoken about this topic. There was a time when I was brushing my teeth in the kitchen, a grenade went in, but fortunately it did not explode. There were times when we were in the mountains to escape a checkpoint and we ended up right in front of the checkpoint."
