The tech giant released its "Year in Search 2023" list, and the data shows that people around the world searched for information about Hamas' October 7 attack on Israel and Israel's attacks on Gaza.
" The war in Israel and Gaza " topped this year's list, while "what is Hamas", "what is happening in Israel" and "why did Hamas attack" were among the top questions searched on Google.
The Titan submarine tragedy was the next top global news trend after the war, followed by the devastating Turkey-Syria earthquake in February that killed more than 50,000 people.
The annual summary of "Year in Search 2023" is a presentation of people and phenomena that aroused curiosities around the world. Google's list also features some of the people we lost this year, such as Matthew Perry , Tina Turner and Sinead O'Connor .
"Barbie" and "Oppenheimer" were the top trending movies of the year.
