Taylor Swift is distancing herself from her friendship with Blake Lively after feeling used by the actress and becoming embroiled in a lawsuit she didn't want to be a part of.
The singer's name was embroiled in the legal dispute between Lively and Justin Baldoni, when he claimed that Blake used Swift to threaten him in a meeting with her husband, Ryan Reynolds, over changes Blake wanted to make to a scene in the film.
In his $400 million lawsuit, filed earlier this month, Baldoni said Swift showed up, unannounced, at a meeting he had with Blake Lively and made him feel like he "had to comply with script guidelines."
Later, Lively appeared to threaten Baldoni by comparing herself to the "Game of Thrones" character Khaleesi in a series of messages in which she referred to Reynolds and friends as her "dragons."
This characterization (the dragon) was reportedly the 'final straw' for Swift, who had never planned to attend the meeting, but flew to New York for a visit with the actress as usual.
"She's spending some time with Blake because she doesn't want to get involved in this anymore than she already is," a source close to Taylor Swift told DailyMail.
Blake's message, "I have my dragons, like Khaleesi," was also deemed unnecessary by Taylor Swift's inner circle. In fact, they believe it was used as a slur, putting Taylor in the position of an animal or an object.
A second source close to the singer told the newspaper:
"Taylor has been very gracious about all of this. She is conscious of her image, which she cares about very much, and she hates the fact that her name has been mentioned even indirectly."
This decision will undoubtedly shock fans of the "Cruel Summer" singer, who has been friends with the "Gossip Girl" star for a decade, where their joint appearances are numerous.
However, Taylor appeared to support her friend at the beginning of this controversy saga with Justin Baldoni.
Blake was photographed arriving at Swift's apartment, after the first rumors, to escape all the media pressure.
At the time, Blake Lively was accused of being indifferent to the issues of domestic violence, which the film addresses, and of having used the film's release to promote her brand of alcoholic beverages.
