We knew that Dua Lipa would perform at Sunny Hill Festival this year. We also knew that she would sing an Albanian song to follow the tradition of singing a well-known song from the country where she performed during her "Radical Optimism" tour. But that she would take the stage with her father, Dukagjin Lipa, and sing "Era" by the band Gjurmët, was a very pleasant surprise.
Gjurmët is a well-known rock band from Kosovo, formed in Prishtina in 1981 and active until 1988, with vocalist Migjen Kelmendi, now a well-known journalist. They released the albums “Gjurmët” (1984), “Gjurmët 1982-1988” (1988) and a compilation in 2002 with improved recordings and retrospective reflections. In late 2015, the band returned with a gala concert at the Palace of Congresses in Tirana.
The song "Era", however, may be more familiar to people from McKresha's famous 2015 remake.
Dukagjin Lipa, on the other hand, was also the soloist of a rock band in Kosovo, "ODA", active during the '90s, so this return to the stage must have been a nice feeling for Dua's father, who, by the way, should probably consider a proper return to music. ;)
