Girl, do you often find yourself scrolling through dating apps? Oh wait! What is this? Picture of a guy with a cat? Well, according to a Colorado State University study, you may swipe left more often if you see a photo of a guy with a cat.
A 2015 University of Nevada study also found that when given the choice, an overwhelming majority of women would rather date a guy who had a dog than a guy who had a cat.
Apparently, men with cats are seen by heterosexual women as "less desirable" on dating apps. Studies claim that cats make men appear "less masculine" and "more neurotic".
Cats have historically been seen as feminine symbols - from gods in mythology to witches in folklore. They are seen as delicate and graceful pets, traits that are considered feminine.
But let's face it, this prejudice against cat owners is sexist. Just because a man has a cat doesn't mean he's less of a man or less interesting.
So next time you're surfing Tinder, give #catdads a chance. They can surprise you in more ways than one!
