"Saved by the Bell" - an American teen sitcom, a sequel to "Saved by the Bell (1989–1993)" and "Saved by the Bell: The College Years (1993–1994)" - was heavily criticized on social media after excessive joke towards Selena Gomez referring to her kidney transplant.
During one of the series, one of the actresses says that "she knows for sure that Selena's kidney donor is Justin Bieber's mother", while the other insists that it is Demi Lovato.
Saved by the Bell, that's disgusting. Selena almost lost her life, jokes about her kidney transplant is NOT FUNNY. Respect Selena Gomez. pic.twitter.com/c8AZbsU1m0

In addition, one of the school walls reads "Does Selena Gomez have a kidney?".
People on social networks did not hesitate to criticize the series, because according to them someone's health can not be used in this form. NBC Universal apologized.
"We apologize," NBC said in a statement to CNN. "It was not our intention to mention Selena's health. We have been in contact with her team and will donate money to her lupus foundation. ”
Selena suffers from lupus - an autoimmune disease that causes inflammation in tissues and organs. The disease is difficult to diagnose because the symptoms - joint pain, fever, fatigue, urticaria - are common and can be explained in many ways. Lupus has no cure, but is treated effectively.
In September 2017, she made public on Instagram the fact that she had undergone a kidney transplant and that it was donated to her by her close friend, Francia Raisa.
