WhatsApp has announced some new privacy updates, which you may definitely need at certain times.
The platform will soon allow people to:
- control who can see when they are online,
- prevent others from taking screenshots of certain messages/photos
- to leave a group (X left the chat) without notifying other users
WhatsApp has more than 2 billion users globally and is owned by Facebook, Meta. Announcing the changes to Facebook and Instagram, CEO Mark Zuckerberg said the company "will continue to build new ways to protect messages and keep them private and as secure as face-to-face conversations."
New features will begin to be added to the app throughout this month.
Meanwhile, the possibility of adding an option with messages that are read only once (kind of like Snapchat) is being tested.
