Any blogger or influencer who generates income through the use of social networks is considered a commercial entity and is obliged to publish basic data on his/her account, including the NIPT, the name of the entity, address and contact.
According to an amendment made to the law "On Tax Procedures in the Republic of Albania", economic and commercial activity also includes activity carried out via the internet.
If the aforementioned data is not published by the relevant persons, the administration sends an official notification of their publication.
The time limit for following the instructions is 15 days and if this deadline is violated, the tax administration requests the Electronic and Postal Communications Authority (AKEP) to temporarily block the account through which the activity is carried out.
A few months ago, the government monitored the accounts of around 100 online media influencers. It was suspected that they had not paid 33 million euros in fees earned through Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Google, TikTok and PayPal platforms.
