Why fresh fruit juice is not always healthy

When we say fresh juice that comes from squeezing the fruits of the season, it rarely happens that people refuse it. Given the fact that it is fresh and not bought in a supermarket, extracted from fruit and not in ready-made boxes of shops, then all these are enough factors to believe that there is nothing wrong with this.

But for lovers of fresh fruit juices there is bad news! "Fruit juice is basically water, sugar, vitamins and minerals," explains Jami Zimmerman, a registered dietitian in New York City. She points out that the sugar content is the detail that makes juice a less healthy drink.

"Squeezing removes all the fiber content of the fruit, which helps regulate blood sugar and satiety," Zimmerman says. "The combination of the lack of fiber and the high sugar content makes for a high-calorie drink that is easy to drink and leads to excess calorie intake," she continues.

Over time, this can affect your weight, so many nutritionists say that fresh fruit juice is not so healthy.

Fruit juice can cause a rapid rise in blood sugar, increased hunger and fatigue because the sugar is quickly absorbed by the body. Of course, people with diabetes or other health problems should drink fresh fruit juice in moderation. But no one is immune to the dreaded drop in sugar, so regardless of diabetes or weight, you should be careful about the amount you drink every day.

The fact that it comes from fresh fruit, why is it not healthy?

This juice lacks the fiber found in normal fruit, but carries some of the fruit's other nutrients. Despite being careful about quantity, sugar and weight, juice is a good source of vitamins A and C, potassium and other micronutrients. Of course, due to the water content, juice also provides hydration.
