Even Rihanna is ready for some Rihanna music. In an interview with Vogue , she revealed that the wait is likely over as she releases her first album in seven years.
"When you finish an album like 'Anti,' in retrospect, it's really my best album," she said. "I say this because then I did not understand. But it's always been seen as the most cohesive album I've ever made. When you realize that the album goes from 'Eork' to 'Kiss it better', to 'Needed Me' to 'Love on brain', 'Sex with me' to 'Desperado'. And everything fits and you were not wrong for a second."
However, she said she sees the success of "Anti" as a gauge for her next project. "I put pressure on myself. That if it's not better, then it's not worth it," she said, adding that she knows this mentality is "toxic."
"It's not the right way to look at music because music is a moment and space to create and you can create anything," RiRi added. “It just has to be something that feels good. It could just be a song I like."
“So I realized that if I keep waiting until [the album] feels like it's right and perfect and better [than 'Anti'], it's probably going to take forever and maybe it's never going to be released and it's not. So I want to play. And by game, I mean I have my ideas in my head, but I can't say them out loud yet.”
Rihanna said she wants to release it in 2023. "I want it to be this year," she said. "Honestly, it would be ridiculous if it didn't come out this year. But I just want to have fun. I want to make music and make videos. I need the right background music with the visuals. I can't just have a video of me talking."
Ok, RiRi. I expect!
