Rapper and producer Sean "Diddy" Combs is reportedly holding inspirational sessions with inmates at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, where he has been held since September 2024. According to a letter submitted by fellow inmate Ho Wen Kwok (also known as Miles Guo), ahead of his sentencing on October 3, Diddy has created a program titled "Free Play with Diddy," through which he shares personal experiences and lessons from his life, business, and career in the music industry.
“It’s the first time I’ve seen an entire class participate in a class where there is no racial or gang division, just a desire for knowledge and wisdom,” Kwok writes in the letter.
He describes Diddy as a "kind, empathetic and charismatic man," noting that he has seen his dedication in preparing for these lessons, as well as his willingness to inspire others. According to him, the two have also discussed the possibility of creating special programs to help young people stay off the streets, through music and sports.
Diddy was found guilty in July of two prostitution-related charges after a two-month trial, while he was acquitted of three more serious charges: human trafficking and extortion. Federal prosecutors are seeking a sentence of more than 11 years, while the defense has proposed a lighter sentence: 14 months in prison, followed by supervised release, mandatory treatment and psychological support.
The final decision on his sentence is expected to be announced by Judge Arun Subramanian on Friday, October 3.
