Instagram has been prioritizing videos for some time, and after many complaints, via a video on Twitter, Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri said that the app will continue to support photos, but will focus more on videos, as they are being liked and used more by people.

"A lot of things will continue to be the same, but we have to evolve, as the world is changing fast and we have to change with it," he added.
However, Instagram users have already realized that reels appear in the app's algorithm and have started using them en masse, leaving photos (which are still used by many others) in oblivion.
Many people have expressed their revolt because they can no longer see their friends' photos, because the place in the feed is occupied by videos.
