Now that Covid is no longer a global emergency, the World Health Organization (WHO) is focusing on how to get back to normal.
As many as 36 million people living in Europe and parts of Central Asia may have experienced prolonged Covid in the past three years, since the start of the pandemic, the WHO's European regional office said.
Prolonged Covid is a post-viral condition characterized by symptoms that last after someone has recovered from the infection.
"1 in 30 people may still find it difficult to return to normal life," said Dr. Hans Kluge, WHO regional director for Europe.
