Most of us want our bedroom to be a peaceful space, where it's easy to relax and get a good night's sleep. If your space seems more chaotic than peaceful, professional designers reveal what things should not be in the bedroom.
Some of them, like thin curtains or work-related items, can make it harder to relax. Removing unnecessary items, like old electronics or children's toys, is a great first step to creating a relaxing environment. Then you can think about changes in wall colors and decorative elements.
Here's what, according to designers, should not be in the bedroom:
1. Televisions

Although many people enjoy watching TV shows or movies in bed, some designers believe that a TV has no place in the bedroom. When it's off - which is most of the time - it looks like a black box that distracts from the overall look. Moreover, its presence can make it more difficult to disconnect from the day's activities.
2. A work corner

The bedroom should be separate from the work space. Placing a desk or computer in this area makes it more difficult to relax. It is important that the place where you rest does not mix with the place where you work.
3. The mess

“Clutter is the enemy of a peaceful bedroom.” Surfaces should be as clean and organized as possible. Practical storage solutions help create a peaceful and harmonious environment.
4. Strong colors

Very bright colors, such as red, orange, or strong yellow, can stimulate energy and make it more difficult to relax. Instead, softer shades, such as green or blue, or neutral tones that create calm are recommended.
5. Very large mirrors

Although mirrors can make a space appear larger and brighter, too large ones or those placed opposite the bed can create a disturbing feeling. Choose medium-sized mirrors with simple frames.
6. Cables and electrical clutter

Exposed wires and cables can ruin the aesthetics and peace of a room. Organizing them or hiding them behind furniture helps maintain a clean and safe look.
7. Poor or too bright lighting

A single, very strong light can make a room seem cold. It is better to combine different light sources, general lighting, functional lighting and decorative lighting, to create a warm and relaxing atmosphere.
8. Numerous electronic devices

The bedroom should be as free as possible from electronic devices such as televisions, computers, or other devices related to constant work or entertainment. This helps calm the mind and improve the quality of sleep.
9. Furniture of inappropriate height

Furniture should be in harmony with each other. For example, the bedside table should preferably be at the same height or slightly lower than the mattress.
10. Children's toys

The master bedroom should be a space for adults. The presence of children's toys disrupts the sense of peace and privacy.
11. Thin curtains

Although natural light is good during the day, darkness is needed at bedtime. For this reason, light-blocking curtains are recommended for a more restful sleep.
