We don't know what Grida has given up, because she didn't mention any names or concrete stories, but perhaps we all know who these words could be addressed to, Ervin Salianji.

As she later adds, things (or Ervin) either stick with you or they don't, and there's no need to try too hard for that.

But, there comes a point at which you say that, since you've become the person you are, there's no need to invest anymore. Things stick or don't stick well with you if they stick or don't stick well by themselves. You don't make sacrifices anymore beyond a point."
